Corston Couture was created from the founding designer, Coral Johnston's love of beautiful fabrics and interesting design.
The collections are always romantically eclectic, fashion forward, and often with a nod to a past era.
She did however show an early passion for design and sewing, starting at the age of 5 under the watchful tutoring of her mother, a talented sewing teacher.
(this was not couture sewing of course!...more like pillow cases with holes cut for armholes.)
After High School, Coral went to University to do a Science degree, majoring in Psychology, and in her spare time, made extra money making clothes and doing alterations.
After 3 years of study, she realized she didn't want to be either a Scientist or Psychologist, and began the company, that is now Corston Couture.
Coral spent the first 25 years of business, perfecting and educating herself in the art of Couture, learning an enormous amount for the very talented and brilliant staff she has employed over the years.
In 2016, after 20 plus years in couture, Corston launched their first Ready to Wear collection. These dresses were designed and constructed using couture fabrics and techniques, and every subsequent collection has followed this brief.
All the dresses for these collections are designed and created in the Sydney, Australia work rooms under the watchful eye of Coral and her staff.
In March 2020, Corston was poised to Launch the RTW Collections Internationally, but COVID had other ideas. The launch was far from the dramatic event, Corston had planned, but never the less, the collections have been quietly taken up by a number of international stockists regardless of the difficulties of 2020.
Corston, and Coral, have quickly adapted to using Zoom to speak to potential stockists, and organize in house models ready to showcase the dresses etc....all a new unexpected world of Business, but customer service has always been extremely important in the running of Corston, and a tricky year like 2020 won't stop that.
Coral personally likes to get to know potential stockist, and very happy to answer any questions or inquiries you may have.
